Fever's Caitlin Clark hilariously pokes fun at herself after injury scare

The Indiana Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream 84-79 on Monday. Caitlin Clark suffered an injury scare in the game, but it doesn't appear to be anything serious. In fact, Clark even said she looked “soft” after watching the replay of the injury scare, via Chloe Peterson of IndyStarSports.

“I saw the replay, I look really soft,” Clark told reporters after the game. “It wasn't that bad of a turn, but it hurt… They said, 'Do you want to go to the back?' I said, 'No, please just film here. Let's go.' We have to move on, move on with the game.”

Clark showed toughness after returning to the game. She later made an honest confession about basketball players and ankle injuries.

“You're not a real basketball player unless you sprain your ankle,” Clark added.

Clark has continued to play at a high level throughout the 2024 season. On Monday, the rookie scored 19 points and added seven rebounds and seven assists. However, Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 29 points. Mitchell also recorded seven rebounds, making it a standout performance.

Fever head coach Christie Sides said before the game that players like Clark, Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith led to more free throws for Mitchell. Mitchell scored 29 points on Monday, shooting 10-of-23 from the field and 3-of-10 from beyond the three-point line. It wasn't her most efficient performance, but the high number of shot attempts speaks to her confidence, which could be boosted by the looks she's getting.

Indiana currently has a record of 14-16. They will look to continue their attempt to break .500 on Wednesday against the Connecticut Sun. Connecticut is one of the best teams in the WNBA, so they will certainly pose a challenge for Indiana. However, the Fever are playing well right now, so an upset is possible.
