LOGAN, Ohio – A Hocking County jury has convicted a man of killing another at a party in 2023, Ohio's attorney general said.

Isaac Pence, 21, of Carroll, Ohio, was found guilty Friday of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence, Attorney General David Yost said.

Pence stabbed 22-year-old Charles Starner of Lancaster during a party on April 23, 2023, Yost said. The drug- and alcohol-fueled incident occurred at a rented cabin in Sugar Grove, Yost said.

Pence faces a prison sentence of 21 years to life, with sentencing to be announced at a date set by the court.

The case was investigated by the Hocking County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Fairfield County District Attorney's Office.

The lawyers of the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Attorney General led the prosecution.
