Troy Ave released from prison after 2016 shooting, receives new Lamborghini as a gift

Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave has been released from prison after serving a sentence for his role in the 2016 Irving Plaza shooting that left the rapper's friend and bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, dead.

Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, posted a picture of himself leaving Riker's Island yesterday (August 26) with a bag full of money in front of a red Lambo, with the caption: “You boy, you’re home!”

Another clip showed Troy being handed the Lamborghini and cash as he landed on the street, with Ave saying he wanted to go to the airport first.

Collins was put behind bars after he and podcaster Daryl “Taxstone” Campbell got into a brawl backstage at Irving Plaza during a TI concert that resulted in Ave's boyfriend and bodyguard being shot.

“When the shot goes off, I see the light of the spark and hear the shot.” Troy testified in court last March. “It all happens very quickly. I get up and start fighting Taxstone. I try to overpower him, grab the gun and another shot goes off. I put my leg up to block the shot, which doesn't hit me in the face or chest.”

Taxstone, the suspected shooter, was sentenced to 35 years in prison, while Troy Ave.'s sentence was reduced to one year.
