Caitlin Clark collapses with ankle injury, returns to the game a few minutes later

Caitlin Clark Fans suffered a collective panic attack last night…after the Indiana Fever star suffered a nasty ankle injury.

Luckily, CC insists she's fine!

The scary moment occurred Monday during the first quarter of the Fever-Dream game at State Farm Arena in Atlanta … when the No. 1 overall draft pick sprained his left ankle while playing defense.

The 6-foot-tall rookie guard immediately collapsed to the ground, holding his ankle and obviously in a lot of pain.

It didn't look good…but somehow Clark returned to the field in the second quarter with his ankle taped, and Clark and Fever fans across the country breathed a sigh of relief.

Despite missing some time in the first half, Clark finished with 19 points and won 84-79.

“I saw the replay and I look really weak,” Clark said of the injury at the post-match press conference.

“It wasn't that bad of a sprain, but it hurt. Sometimes you just have to give yourself a second. If you've sprained your ankle before, it just stings a little bit, so I was good.”

Clark added, “You're not a real basketball player unless you've sprained your ankles a lot.”

By the way, the 22-year-old has once again made history … with four three-point shots last night, she Rhyn Howard for most three-pointers by a WNBA rookie (85).
