PARK CITY, Kentucky — A man is facing charges after being chased by police through Park City on Monday.

According to a uniform complaint, at approximately 5:29 p.m., the Barren County Sheriff's Office observed a 2000 Toyota Avalon traveling 86 mph in a 55 mph zone on Louisville Road.

The driver was identified as Rodney Froedge, 62, of Park City.

The complaint states that a deputy activated emergency equipment and Froedge immediately attempted to drive away. Deputies say they reached speeds of 100 miles per hour while pursuing Froedge.

Then Froedge turned around and stopped in front of a residential building, officials say.

When speaking to Froedge, officers stated that he fled because he did not want to get a speeding ticket.

When officers searched the vehicle, they said they found a dollar bill containing a white powdery substance that Froedge said was methamphetamine.

Froedge was arrested and is charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or more, reckless driving, first degree fleeing or eluding police, failure to display an insurance card, first degree reckless endangerment of a police officer, and first offense possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Froedge remains in the Barren County Detention Center.
