Man found dead in truck on Palmetto Expressway after shooting – NBC 6 South Florida

According to police, a shootout occurred before a man was found dead in a pickup truck on the side of the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade on Monday.

The discovery was made shortly after noon on the shoulder of the northbound lanes of the expressway near Northwest 103rd Street.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said they received a call about a suspicious silver Ford truck and when officers arrived, they found the man's body inside.

His identity was not disclosed.

Hialeah police confirmed Tuesday that a shooting occurred prior to the discovery and said they are investigating the case as a homicide. The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.

Aerial photographs from Helicopter 6 on Monday showed investigators at the scene of the accident, where the truck was partially covered with a yellow tarpaulin.

As a result of the investigation, several lanes of northbound Palmetto Street were closed.
