Man found shot in alley in west Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Homicide investigators are trying to determine what led to the shooting death of a man in west Phoenix early Tuesday.

The Phoenix Police Department said officers responded around 6:50 a.m. to a report of a person unresponsive near 27th Avenue and Solano Drive, just south of Bethany Home Road.

When officers arrived, they found 53-year-old Jesse Benich dead in the alley after being shot.

Investigators are currently trying to find out more about the background to the shooting, but no further information has been released.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO (for Spanish speakers).

There may be a reward offered to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest.
