Since the series features idyllic coastlines and quaint little cottages, it's not hard to see why.

The problem with Maggie Cole With Dawn French in the lead role of the eponymous Maggie – a village important woman who is constantly preoccupied with the lives of her neighbors.

However, her involvement comes to an end after she spills all about the people in her life during a drunken appearance on local radio.

Over the course of the six-part series, Maggie must face the consequences of her actions. This isn't easy as she lives in the small town of Thurlbury – the picturesque village that has viewers wondering where the series was filmed.

Where is “The Trouble With Maggie Cole” filmed?

The majority of the filming for The problem with Maggie Cole was set in Devon and Cornwall, with the coast serving as the backdrop for the comedy-drama.

In fact, you'll find several filming locations near Plymouth, including the village of Noss Mayo, which served as the setting for the fictional village of Thurlbury in the film.

The popular tourist attraction Morwellham Quay was also used for filming, with the museum and 19th-century village centre serving as the basis for Thurlbury's shop.

While The Conqueror pub may not exist, you can visit the Cargreen near Saltash, where the pub's exterior scenes were filmed for the series.

You can even visit Maggie's workplace, with Launceston Castle providing the perfect location for the fictional Norman keep.

Does Thurlbury really exist in “The Trouble With Maggie Cole”?

The village of Thurlbury in “Do You Know Maggie Cole?” doesn't actually exist. However, there are two villages in Lincolnshire with the surprisingly similar name Thurlby.

While this may be disappointing for fans, the series was filmed in locations that are very dear to Dawn French.

Since the actress and comedian was born in Plymouth and later moved to Cornwall, she was very familiar with several filming locations.

In fact, as a child she was a regular visitor to Mothecombe beach.

She spoke to The Radio Times about the series: “We filmed on beaches I went to as a child, like Mothecombe.”

“I also spent time at Launceston Castle as a child. We filmed in many places that are my home. Of the whole cast, I'm the one who knows this area a little bit.

“But there are still little parts of Cargreen where I've never walked down a particular street before. There was a whole little village I'd never seen before. So that was exciting.”
