Uvalde judge arrested after search warrant for his grandson who was under the influence of drugs

A Uvalde Municipal Court judge maintains his innocence after he and his family were arrested early Tuesday morning.

Judge Richard “O” Gonzales said police showed up at his home with an arrest warrant for his grandson, one of several relatives who live with him.

After he let them in, he said they discovered a controlled substance in his home.

Gonzales says he had no idea the substance was in his home.

Nevertheless, he is now accused of possession of a controlled substance.

“I've never been in trouble with the law or anything. In fact, I've been involved in law enforcement as a prosecutor and a municipal court judge,” Judge Gonzalez said. “Why the hell would I do illegal things?”

Gonzales says he has been released from jail on bail and is working with an attorney on his case.
