Another suspect in machete attack, murder case in custody

JASSIN: The fifth suspect in an incident in which a 24-year-old man was hacked to death by a group of masked men armed with machetes outside a barber shop in Taman Rim Baru on Sunday (August 25) has been remanded in custody for seven days from today until September 3.

Judge Mazana Sinin has granted the request for pre-trial detention for the 23-year-old male suspect arrested yesterday.

Previously, the media reported that a man had died in Taman Rim Baru in an attack by a group of masked men armed with machetes.

Jasin District Police Chief DSP Ahmad Jamil Radzi reportedly said that the injured victim in the incident contacted his younger brother, who was 22 years older, to take him to the emergency room of Jasin Hospital for treatment at 8.39pm on Sunday.

He was quoted as saying that the victim was pronounced dead while being treated at the hospital at around 10:15 p.m., while his younger brother was also chased by the men but managed to escape.

The case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the German Criminal Code.
