Did comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias have trouble with Canelo Alvarez?

There are only a few things that are forbidden for everyone, and if there were a list, Canelo Alvarez should be at the top. But it has happened before, consciously or unconsciously. And the man who had to bear the brunt of it was the American comedian, Gabriel Iglesias.

Iglesias, who also performs under his stage name “Fluffy,” revealed the incident and how he drew the ire of the Mexican champion in his Netflix special “Stadium Fluffy.” He began the segment by admitting that he “have insulted someone”, whose name he shouldn't have mentioned. The comedian then openly admitted that he had insulted Alvarez.

The 48-year-old comedian recounted how Ron White contacted him and invited him to participate in his comedy show “Tribute to the Troops” for the Nashville Network. Since he was only asked to do a 10-minute segment, he thought about making jokes about references to Las Vegas. Iglesias said: “Since everyone knows Vegas, I started talking about boxing and then I mentioned Canelo.”

He comically suggested to the 61-2-2 record holder not to give interviews in English. The San Diego native replayed, “I said I just wish he wouldn't do interviews in English. Because English is not his strong language… When you're a professional fighter, you have to sound confident, committed, threatening, aggressive, to the point and direct, and in Spanish he does that. In English, not so much.”

Iglesias then performed a section in which he discussed the 34-year-old boxer’s hypothetical interviews prior to the Floyd Mayweather Fight in Spanish and English. The super middleweight champion did not like this and some comments were made. However, there is no argument or bad blood between the two as Iglesias is a big fan of Alvarez. The actor has even watched his fights live and when a fight is about to happen, he asks fans for their views and predictions.

Fans will be excited to see what kind of challenge “The Chosen One” poses for Alvarez, as he has the strength of youth and power behind his punches as well. But there is a huge difference in skills between the two, and it all depends on how much Berlanga can close that gap.
