Pilot faces prison for falsifying medical application

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported yesterday that a federal court has convicted a pilot of making two false statements to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in his application for a Class 1 medical certificate. The case, which dates back to June, involves pilot Olukayode Ojo, 36, of Dallas, Texas. Ojo was found guilty on August 16 of two counts of making false statements.

According to the TSA notice, Ojo, whose LinkedIn post shows two years and eight months of work experience as a first officer with Dana Airlines in Nigeria, pleaded guilty and was convicted in February 2023 in Kentucky of two counts of larceny, where he allegedly stole luggage from the baggage carousel at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Ojo then falsified his applications for an FAA Class 1 medical certificate in March 2023 and March 2024 by unlawfully failing to report those criminal convictions.

After being convicted in court of lying to the FAA, Ojo was remanded in custody. According to the TSA statement, Ojo faces up to five years in prison and fines of up to $500,000.
