Wrong-way driver accident on the Southern State Parkway: Grand jury indicts mother who allegedly killed her son in an accident while under the influence of alcohol

CENTRAL ISLIP, Long Island (WABC) – A grand jury has voted to indict the Long Island mother accused of causing a wrong-way driving accident that killed her nine-year-old son.

Kerri Bedrick was arrested on August 22 after she was involved in a head-on collision because she drove for miles in the wrong direction on the Southern State Parkway.

The new charges against Bedrick are expected to be announced next week, but prosecutors told the judge they would file a manslaughter charge.

Bedrick pleaded not guilty last week to several charges, including drunken driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

Her lawyer claims that she took prescribed medications for various illnesses.
