Police arrest two men for murder of Kinston woman

KINSTON, NC (WITN) – Police have made two arrests in connection with the shooting of a woman in Kinston Sunday evening.

According to police, Thomas Mason and Davon Williams are on trial in connection with the murder of Anzaryia Cobb.

The 22-year-old woman was shot in front of building 8 of the Mitchell Wooten Apartments.

Williams, 24, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Mason, 30, is charged with five counts of aiding and abetting assault, five counts of criminal conspiracy and violating probation.

When police arrived at the facility around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, they found Cobb suffering from a gunshot wound. She was being flown by helicopter to ECU Health Medical Center when she succumbed to her injuries.

Both Kinston men were arrested Tuesday by the Kinston Police SWAT team.

Cobb's family says she was a wonderful daughter, mother and basketball player.
