Julianne Hough recently spoke about the accident that led to the death of her dogs.

At a performance on August 27 at The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Sadly, Julianne announced the heartbreaking news that her dogs Lexi and Harley were killed by coyotes.

“I woke up before my phone even rang and I knew. I picked up the phone and my assistant at the time was just screaming,” the dancer recalled learning of the loss.

Julianne added that before Lexi and Harley's deaths, she “never had coyotes in her yard” and had even fenced in her property.

Despite the grief, she found a small consolation: “They went together, I'm so grateful that they went together,” she told the presenter.

Julianne added: “Secondly, I'm grateful that it usually happens very quickly and that we got their bodies. But at the time I thought, 'Oh, that was the end of the absolute security of unconditional love.'”

In September 2023, Julianne welcomed a new dog named Sunny into her life!

She recently celebrated Sunny's first birthday in July 2024 with a touching Instagram reel that showed a sweet montage of their moments together.

In the caption, Julianne wrote, “Lexi and Harley would have loved and played with you every day and I know they only sent you to me when I was ready to open my heart and love again – you opened me up, darling. Thank you.”

She also shared how her puppy Sunny has improved her mental health.

“You will be surprised how much your energy changes when you laugh, play and be present with a dog,” she said People being a dog mom. “Our morning ritual is that we play in bed. I wake her up, she comes to me, lies down in bed and we play for a good 15 minutes.”

She continued, “Nothing is better than a dog.”
