Three men arrested in Wilmington drug case with ties to Colombian drug trafficking organization

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Three men were arrested in New Hanover County in a drug trafficking case involving a local Colombian national drug trafficking organization, according to the county sheriff's office.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations worked together on this case, resulting in the execution of a search warrant on a home in the 4000 block of Fairlawn Drive in Wilmington.

“During the search, investigators discovered clothing items with oddly shaped logos. Upon further investigation, it was determined that cocaine was hidden in the shirts. Over 1 1/2 kilograms (approximately 1700 grams) of cocaine was seized. This investigation disrupted a local Colombian national drug trafficking organization, resulting in the arrest of Diego Falla Dussan, Christian Mauricio Villarreal and Juan Camilo Puentes. All are being held in the New Hanover County Detention Center on drug-related charges,” the press release said.

34-year-old Diego Armando Dussan, 25-year-old Christian Mauricio Villamizar Villarreal and 23-year-old Juan Camilo Pena Puentes were all replaced by the following players:

  • Possession of cocaine
  • Cocaine trafficking
  • Production of cocaine

Each received a secured bond valued at $1,000,500.
