Texas lawyer killed in murder-suicide in $1.6 million mansion

The wife of a Texas lawyer killed her husband and then herself last week in their $1.6 million home outside the San Antonio suburb of Shavano Park, officials said.

Jerry Hernandez, 61, and his wife Sonia, 52, were found dead in their four-bedroom, five-bathroom home on August 21.

The Bexar County Coroner's Office told Fox News Digital that it had listed the cause of death for Jerry Hernandez as murder and the cause of death for Sonia Hernandez as suicide.

Before 8am, police officers were called to the address because gunshots were heard in the area. They entered the master bedroom and found a dead man and woman with gunshot wounds on a bed.

Police told Fox News Digital they are investigating the incident as an apparent murder-suicide.

The couple leaves behind a 25-year-old daughter.

According to an online professional profile for Hernandez, his legal career spanned 30 years and he was named a top personal injury lawyer by SA Scene Magazine in 2017.

“We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our colleague Jerry Hernandez, and our deepest condolences go out to the Hernandez family during this incredibly difficult time,” the Davis Law Firm said in a statement to My San Antonio. “We are still awaiting details as this unexpected loss has come as a shock. While we need time to process this news, our priority will be to offer support as we deal with this tragic loss together.”

Police said they were not looking for anyone else involved in the incident. Authorities have not released any further details about the deaths.
