Naked man arrested after brief standoff in Posey Co.

POSEY CO., Ind. (WFIE) – A man is facing multiple charges following a standoff in Posey County.

On Tuesday, officers said they were called to an apartment complex on Norman Avenue because shots had been fired there.

The Posey County Sheriff's Office said the caller reported a neighbor firing several shots outside. The caller also told officers he heard screaming coming from an adjacent apartment.

Shortly after officers arrived on scene, they said there was a brief standoff with the alleged suspect.

A press release states that at that point, 27-year-old Chayse Hayhurst of Evansville came out of the house completely naked and with a gun in his hand.

Deputies say they were able to talk to Hayhurst and get him to drop the gun, and he was then arrested.

Hayhurst was taken to the Posey County Jail, where officials said he threatened her at the time.

He is accused of the following:

• Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon
• intimidation
• Resistance to prosecution
• Improper conduct
• Criminal damage to property
