State authorities investigate medical incident in Henry County

The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy is investigating a possible medication error in Henry County that resulted in three children being hospitalized.

On Sunday, Henry County Emergency Medical Services posted on Facebook about its concerns about a drug shipment containing clonidine. Authorities advised parents of patients with clonidine prescriptions at a Med Save pharmacy in Eminence not to administer the drug and were “convinced that this incident was limited to prescriptions” from that area.

CEO Christopher Harlow said the Kentucky State Board of Pharmacists was informed of the allegations Monday morning “from multiple sources” and that he believes the clonidine was only dispensed to the three patients.

“It is our job to find out what happened and take appropriate action to keep the people of Kentucky safe.”

The Board encourages anyone similarly affected to contact the Board.
