LSU Football vs. USC Trojans Injury Report: Chris Hilton Status Update

No. 13 seed LSU will face the No. 23 seed USC Trojans on Sunday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m. CT at Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas).

For the LSU program, it offers the Tigers a chance to earn their first Week 1 win since 2019.

“This offseason has probably been one of our best since I've been here in terms of the work and the guys pushing each other and competing every day,” LSU offensive lineman Campbell said during fall camp. “Everyone here wants to win. It's year three. It's time for us to do something instead of just winning 10 games.”

“I mean, 10 games is cool at other schools, but not here. Ten games gets people fired and replaced. It's time for us to do something different and win a national championship.”

Who is on the injured list before Week 1?

Brian Kelly provided an update on the status of wide receiver Chris Hilton:

Chris Hilton: Bone Bruise (questionable)

LSU WR Chris Hilton is questionable for Sunday's game against the Trojans because of a bone bruise in his ankle. After sustaining the injury during fall camp, Hilton has been sidelined for the past week or so.

Kelly reiterated Hilton's status on Wednesday during his weekly SEC teleconference appearance, and staff members are hopeful Hilton can take the field later this week.

“We had about an hour of practice (on Monday) and he's been working on getting in and out of routes, precision work,” Kelly said Wednesday. “We'll speed that up to the next phase (on Wednesday) and see where he is. “I know he wants to play. I know he's working toward playing on Sunday. We'll see how the week goes.”

Hilton will put on the pads for training on Wednesday, where he will test his mobility and progress.

When asked who would take his place at first-team wide receiver, Kelly singled out redshirt freshman Kyle Parker as the man to go first.

“It's really about that consistent level of performance … game after game that gives us the confidence and the trust that we have when it matters to perform,” Kelly said. That's what Kyle has shown us: He's a much more consistent ball catcher, much more consistent on the perimeter blocking and route running.

“(Parker is) now a guy you can trust. I don't think we have to live with mistakes with a guy like Kyle Parker. He can perform at a high level for us.”

Miles Frazier: Ankle (probably)

LSU offensive guard Miles Frazier is likely to be available for Sunday's game because of an ankle injury.

Frazier wore a walking boot last week, and the program called for Tyree Adams and Paul Mubenga to fill in as players. All indications are that Frazier will be available. Kelly reiterated that he plans to practice on Tuesday.
