Reading Police Department arrests and charges Roxbury man with burglary

READING – Police Chief David Clark reports that Reading police arrested a Roxbury man earlier this month and charged him with burglary and attempted criminal intent.

GENO ABERNATHY, 22 YEARS, from ROXBURY was arrested and charged with:

  • Burglary with intent to commit theft or crime
  • Attempt to commit a crime

On Thursday, August 8, officers responded to the area of ​​51 Putnam Road for a report of a man apparently looking into cars.

Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a person unknown to residents of the neighborhood had been observed entering and inspecting vehicles.

A neighbor reported that several items were missing from the center console of his vehicle.

Officers managed to obtain a description of the suspect and after a subsequent investigation, police identified the suspect as ABERNATHY.

During a subsequent search, the officer discovered items that matched the missing items from the vehicle. ABERNATHY's person.

ABERNATHY was arrested without incident.

“Without the help of the community in reporting this incident and describing the individual in such detail, we would not have been able to make the arrest so quickly,” said Chief Clark. “If the community notices anything suspicious, I urge them to report it.”

ABERNATHY was arraigned in Woburn District Court on August 9.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
