INDIANAPOLIS – Police officials are investigating the death of a man in custody at the Marion County Jail.

Carlos Lagunes-Fraceschy, 41, was found unconscious in the Adult Detention Center's infirmary Wednesday morning. At 10:40 a.m., about 25 minutes later, medical personnel pronounced him dead, according to the sheriff's office.

The cause and manner of Lagunes-Fraceschy's death were not disclosed.

A sheriff's news release said he was taken to the infirmary the previous evening because of stomach pains. Police said he was examined by medical personnel at 9 a.m. When they checked him again at 10:15 a.m., he was unresponsive.

The Indianapolis Police Department, the coroner's office and the sheriff's office are investigating the death of Lagunes-Fraceschy, who had been in jail since August 12 on charges of small amounts of methamphetamine, two counts of drug possession and false identification.

This is the second death at the prison in just over a week. On August 21, 27-year-old Bailey Lyle was found unconscious in the prison. After 45 minutes of providing aid, medical staff pronounced him dead. The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
