Arrest warrant issued in Renton forced prostitution case in 2022

Arrest warrant issued in Renton forced prostitution case in 2022

The woman was charged with attempted promotion of prostitution and false imprisonment in Renton following her arrest in June 2022.

More than two years after his arrest, indictment and a long wait before trial, an arrest warrant has now been issued against 41-year-old Quyen T. Ngyuen, who failed to appear in court at the end of July.

On June 15, 2022, Nguyen was charged with attempted first-degree promotion of prostitution and false imprisonment after being arrested at the now-closed Q Spa in Renton Highlands.

According to court documents, a then 23-year-old woman from Nicaragua was offered a job as a massage therapist at Q Spa, but was sexually exploited on her first day of work.

The woman told police that Nguyen, an employee at the time, held the woman against her will and demanded sexual services from the young woman.

After several hours, the woman found a way to escape the store and called 911.

With assistance from the Valley SWAT team, the Renton Police Department's Special Enforcement Team and Direct Enforcement Team monitored the store for two weeks before making the arrest.

Since June 2022, Nguyen's trial has been postponed several times. The final hearing date has been set for Monday, August 19.

However, court records show that Nguyen failed to appear for a summary hearing on July 15. An arrest warrant was issued the following day and bail was set at $200,000.

When Nguyen was initially charged with serious crimes, court records noted that she had no known ties to the community and was considered a flight risk.
