Prince George's County man charged with drug and weapons possession after traffic stop

According to Maryland State Police, a Prince George's County man was arrested Wednesday morning after a traffic stop in Howard County resulted in drug and weapons charges.

At around 8 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a Ford traveling in the 7300 block of Washington Boulevard. According to officers, the car was stopped for a defective brake light.

Officials said the traffic stop revealed several indications of a crime, which prompted investigators to search the vehicle with a sniffer dog.

A preliminary investigation returned a positive result and during a search of the car, officers said they found 483 packets of Suboxone and a 9 mm pistol with a loaded magazine.

Otha Samuel, 47, of Lanham was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm, officials said. He was taken to the Maryland State Police Barrack for processing and will be transported to the Howard County Detention Center.
