Jaz Karis reveals excerpt from his debut album “Chill On Me” with Cape Verdean artist June Freedom

Jaz Karis is preparing for the release of her debut album. Safe flightthe culmination of seven years of releasing music and a career that has taken her all over the world. Ahead of its September 20th release date, she shares her new single “Chill On Me” featuring singer June Freedom.

The album was inspired by the many countries she has visited and how they have all changed and influenced her, from LA to Ghana and beyond. On “Chill On Me,” she takes inspiration from one of the many places her globetrotting career has taken her: Cabo Verde, home of June Freedom.

Driven by a gently swinging rhythm and some delicate guitar riffs, there is a hint of sadness as Jaz wrestles with the decision of staying in a relationship with no future or leaving someone she feels a connection to.

Jaz comments on the album and its global influences: “The majority of this album was created in Los Angeles, apart from a few songs that were created in other places like New York City, Atlanta and Texas. With only one song created at home in London, it felt like I had really started a new chapter in my life with this work. I wanted the features to reflect my travels too and I'm so lucky to have so many outstanding artists from around the world working with me on this. The music goes into different worlds too, but I'd like to imagine that soul flows through each song, making them all feel like one flowing body of work. From me to all listeners: have a safe flight.”
