From Jeff Bridges to Carole King

scandal Former Democrats Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn were just two of dozens of celebrities who gathered at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in August to voice their support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, whether through musical performances, emcees or speeches.

The California-born vice president has long had many friends in Hollywood – for example, it was Chrisette Suter, the wife of former BET President Reginald Hudlin, who introduced Harris and her husband, former entertainment lawyer Doug Emhoff, over a decade ago.

Support for Harris in Hollywood has exploded since Joe Biden dropped out of the White House race in late July and threw his full support behind his running mate. In recent weeks, Beyoncé has donated millions to the vice president's historic campaign and allowed Harris to use her song “Freedom” as her theme song. In addition, dozens of singers, actors and celebrities have performed at rallies, organized Zoom calls and virtual events to raise money for the Democratic slate, such as the White Dudes for Harris, the Comics for Harris and, most recently, Swifties for Harris – which also featured acclaimed singer Carole King.

At the DNC, not only Washington and Goldwyn appeared on stage for the Vice President, but also Mindy Kaling, Eva Longoria and, of course, Oprah.
