Men accused of burglary and Ferrari theft in Cranston held without bail

Two former Bishop Hendricken High School students are suspected of stealing a Ferrari during an armed burglary in Cranston on Saturday.

Logan Slezak, 18, of Pawtucket, was arraigned Wednesday in Kent District Court, while Jonathan Costa, 19, of Cranston, Florida, was arraigned, where the stolen vehicle was eventually found.

A new body-worn camera from Florida authorities showed the arrest of Costa, who was found in Florida.

The two face several charges and are being held without bail.

At the time of the break-in, a couple and two minors were in the house on Crest Drive.

“The couple was awakened at around 3:10 a.m. by a phone call that had nothing to do with this incident. The male resident of the house was in the bathroom. The female resident, who was still in bed, turned around and observed the masked and armed people in her bedroom. One of the two men held the gun to the female resident's head and demanded the keys to the Ferrari and the Corvette,” the prosecutor explained in court.

The teenagers apparently sped away in the Ferrari and subsequently led several police chases through at least four different states.

Costa reportedly drove the sports car to Palm Coast, Florida.

Prosecutors said he knew the Florida home where he was arrested and where the stolen car was found.

Costa is being charged with being a fugitive.

Slezak was not found in Florida and turned himself in to North Providence police on Tuesday.

According to police, it was a targeted break-in and the victims knew at least one of the suspects.

NBC 10's Molly Levine spoke behind closed doors with the owner of the vehicle, who said he was concerned that a third suspect might be inside.

NBC 10 spoke with Al Costa, the grandfather of suspect Jonathan Costa, today. Al Costa said it has been two years since he last saw his grandson.

“I tell you, I was shocked,” Al Costa said. “He had everyone on his side helping him.”

Al Costa also said he had not received any information about the situation from his family.
