German inflation falls more than expected in August

Kamala Harris: Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris gives her first interview since taking the slate. She will be joined tonight on CNN by her running mate Tim Walz.

US GDP: Economists expect economic growth to remain unchanged at 2.8 percent in the second quarter.

Dollar-General: The discount retailer is expected to report a nearly 6 percent increase in sales from the same period last year to $10.4 billion. Dollar General's pre-opening results will also likely shed further light on consumer behavior. Last quarter, the company saw an increase in foot traffic, but customers spent less per visit due to inflationary pressures.

Further economic data: New jobless claims are expected to have remained unchanged from the previous week at 232,000 in the week ended August 24. Home sales in the US are expected to have fallen 0.4 percent in July after rising 4.8 percent in the previous month.

Other income: Best Buy and Birkenstock will report their quarterly results before the market opens. Dell, Lululemon, Ulta and Gap will report after the market closes.

Fed-speak: Raphael Bostic, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will speak at an event at the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
