Mount 'frustrated' after missing another injury at Manchester United | Manchester United

Mason Mount admitted he felt “frustration” after missing out on playing due to a muscle injury, the latest setback in his injury-plagued Manchester United career.

The attacking midfielder picked up the problem during the first half of the 2-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday and was substituted at half-time.

In a social media post, Mount said: “I picked up a small muscle problem in the last game. I've had it checked out and it looks like I'll be out for a few games. In the lead up to and during pre-season I worked hard to get my fitness back to the level I needed and I felt energised, fit and ready again. I wanted you [fans] It's nice to hear from me how frustrated I am, and I assume you are too. I will do everything I can to get back to my best and help the team.”

Mount started the season for the third consecutive time and had hoped to put his disappointing first year at United behind him. After being signed from Chelsea for £55 million last July, he made just 20 appearances in the 2023/24 season and missed 38 games due to two injuries.

Leny Yoro, Rasmus Højlund, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelöf are also out, and Tyrell Malacia has not yet returned from a serious knee injury that has kept him out of action for over a year. Coach Erik ten Hag had to deal with 66 injuries last season.

United expect the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for €50 million (£42 million plus €10 million in add-ons) and the transfer of Scott McTominay to Napoli for €30 million to be made official on the final transfer window on Friday.
