Multiple shooters suspected in Mitchell Wooten Court incident, one arrested

Kinston Police have made an arrest in connection with the recent shooting in the Mitchell Wooten Court area.

Joshua Wilson, 33, of Kinston is accused of carrying a concealed weapon, terrorizing the public with a weapon and discharging a firearm in the city.

Authorities said they responded to a report of a shooting on Monday, August 26, at around 5:35 p.m. They found evidence of multiple shooters and secured video footage of the incident.

After detectives identified Wilson as one of the suspects involved, they obtained arrest warrants.

Officers executed a search warrant on a home in the area owned by Michell Wooten, where they found and seized a firearm. Wilson was taken into custody after being found at another location on Mitchell Wooten's property.

Wilson remains in custody at the Lenoir County Jail.

According to the KPD, further arrests are expected and this incident apparently has nothing to do with Sunday's murder.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact KPD at 252-939-4020 or Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at 252-523-4444.
