Tennessee Titans miss out on former Baltimore Ravens linebacker

The Tennessee Titans are releasing their commitment to former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tyus Bowser.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Bowser will sign with the Seattle Seahawks and join their practice squad.

Bowser, 29, spent his first six seasons with the Ravens after being selected in the second round by Houston in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was released by the Ravens in March after missing the entire 2023 season with a knee injury that landed him on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.

The Titans would have been a good fit for Bowser considering new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was with the Ravens last season and knows the linebacker to some degree, but it seemed like Tennessee wanted to go in a different direction.

Bowser reportedly visited the Titans on Wednesday, but the two sides were unable to agree on a deal. Instead, the team acquired outside linebacker Ali Gaye from the Houston Texans after he failed to make the team's original 53-man roster.

Now Bowser joins the Seahawks, where he will reunite with his former defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, who coached the Ravens from 2014-2020 and 2021-22, nearly eclipsing Bowser's entire tenure with the team.

While the Titans can no longer add an experienced player to their team, they still have a linebacker group that they are happy with and that can hopefully exceed the low expectations placed on them for the upcoming season.

The Titans will now say goodbye to Bowser and begin preparations for their season opener on Sunday, September 8, against first-place Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears, kicking off at 12 p.m. CT at Soldier Field.
