William and Kate help George, Charlotte and Louis honor Princess Diana on the 27th anniversary of her death

As the world remembers Princess Diana on the 27th anniversary of her tragic death, her legacy lives on in her family.

Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, have made it their mission to keep Diana's memory alive for their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – who never had the chance to meet their famous grandmother.

According to royal expert Phil Dampier, Kate makes sure that the children are aware of Diana's significance, especially on important anniversaries such as her birthday or the anniversary of her death.

This connection to Diana is maintained through various heartfelt gestures, including the young royals' tradition of writing homemade cards to “Grandma Diana” on special occasions.

In 2021, touching examples of such cards with messages of love and remembrance were shared online around the world.

Diana's final resting place at Althorp House in Northampton has deep meaning for her sons William and Harry.

Dampier announced that William and Kate visited Diana's grave with their children, which was a poignant moment for the family to honour her memory.

As Harry recounts in his memoir “Spare,” he also spent a private moment at the grave with his wife Meghan Markle during a visit in 2022.

In addition to these visits, Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, also help keep Diana's memory alive.

They tell stories about Diana's life and influential work, ensuring the young royals understand the legacy she left behind.

In their own parenting, William and Kate mirror many of Diana's loving gestures, such as holding their children's hands and interacting with them at eye level, reflecting the warmth and compassion for which Diana was known.

While the royal family continues to cherish Diana's memory, her influence is felt in the way her grandchildren grow up with love, kindness and a lasting connection to the grandmother they never knew but will always cherish.
