Villager buries murder victim in his own living room

Residents of Gesabakwa village in Bomachoge Borabu, Kisii County, decided to bury a man killed by unidentified assailants in his house before evicting his family, accusing them of involvement in the heinous incident.

Angry villagers considered the death of Elvis Marube, who was found lifeless in his bedroom a month ago after being hit with a blunt object, suspicious.

Before the elders dug the grave in the deceased's living room, a special Abagusii ritual was performed to pave the way for Marube's final resting place.

“We decided to choose his house as his final resting place,” said Elkana Alex, the deceased’s uncle.

Earlier this week, locals marched ten kilometres to Kenyanya police station demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding the death of the 46-year-old and ten other people who have been killed under mysterious circumstances in recent years.

“I guarantee we will get to the bottom of these murders,” Gome Sebbe of the Kenyan OCPD told angry residents.
