A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man who was stabbed to death in Forest Gate on August 10.

Police were called to an incident on Romford Road, near the junction with Woodgrange Road, E7.

Officers and London Ambulance Service arrived to find 38-year-old Saley Beya suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment but died of his injuries on Thursday, August 29. His family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

A 28-year-old man has appeared in court and is accused of Section 18 GBH. We will now contact the public prosecutor's office to change the charges.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation and said: “We still need people to come forward and tell us what they know about this tragic incident.

“Our investigation has revealed that there was a lot of traffic on Romford Road, including two buses, and people would have seen these events unfold. In addition, a car had to stop on the road when the attack took place.

“I urge anyone who saw this incident or who took pictures or footage of the attack to come forward immediately.”

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information about the incident. If you can help please call 101 or 'X' @MetCC quoting CAD1103/10Aug. You can also give information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
