Haryana elections: Sunita Kejriwal accuses BJP government of inaction and seeks AAP votes to build ‘new Haryana’

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal on Sunday accused the BJP government in Haryana of doing nothing in the last decade and urged the people to vote for the AAP to build “a new Haryana”. The assembly elections in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the results will be announced on October 8.

Addressing a rally in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, Sunita Kejriwal asked people whether there had been any improvement in school education and government healthcare during the BJP's ten-year rule.

“Do you get free electricity 24 hours a day?” she asked.

Sunita Kejriwal claimed that the BJP had achieved nothing in ten years.

She also highlighted the improvements in public schools and hospitals in AAP-ruled Delhi and Punjab.

The plan to give women Rs 1,000 per month will soon be implemented in Punjab and Delhi, she added. Sunita Kejriwal called her husband Arvind Kejriwal — the AAP national president who is in jail over a tax dispute — “Haryana ka laal (son of Haryana)” and said, “Nobody could have imagined that Haryana's son would become the chief minister of Delhi after 20 years.” “This is nothing less than a miracle,” she claimed. “He (Kejriwal) was born on August 16, 1968. His birthday was Krishna Janmashtami. I believe God sent Kejriwal to do something special.”

“Arvind Ji started from scratch, formed his own party and became the Chief Minister of Delhi in his first election,” said Sunita Kejriwal.

He has done things that big parties and big politicians could never do, she said. “And that is why (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji is jealous of Kejriwal. He (Modi) cannot do such things.”

Sunita Kejriwal claimed that Modi could not provide good education and treatment.

“To stop his work, Modi Ji has thrown Kejriwal Ji in jail on a fabricated case,” she alleged.

She attacked the ruling BJP in Haryana, saying the saffron party only wanted to stay in power.

“This (the BJP) has nothing to do with you. The BJP just knows how to break parties and throw opposition leaders in jail,” Sunita Kejriwal claimed.

She also called Kejriwal a lion who would not bow to Modi.

“I am the daughter-in-law of Haryana. I want to ask: Will you tolerate this insult? Will you remain silent? Will you not support your son (Kejriwal)?” she asked.

Sunita Kejriwal urged the people not to cast a single vote for the BJP in the elections. “You all must press 'jhadoo' (the election symbol of the AAP).”

It is not about Kejriwal, it is a question of Haryana's honour, she said.

“Your son has changed Delhi and Punjab,” she said, urging people to vote for the AAP to build “a new Haryana”.

“Your vote is valuable. Don't fall victim to greed and don't waste the next five years,” said Sunita Kejriwal.

Referring to AAP's “guarantees” for Haryana, she said there would be free electricity round the clock if the corporation took over power supply.

There will be Mohalla clinics, government hospitals and schools will be improved. There will be free treatment for all, she said.

The children will be provided with free education, she said. “Every woman will be given 1,000 rupees per month and every unemployed youth will be given a job.”
