Five trainee sub-inspectors arrested for involvement in paper leak

Jaipur: Five trainee sub-inspectors, including two women, who were earlier detained for questioning, were arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) on Sunday for their alleged involvement in an incident involving leak of papers during the recruitment examination for sub-inspectors, officials said.

All five defendants were brought before a court and remanded in custody until September 7, it was said.

According to an official statement, among the arrested trainees are Shobha Raika and her brother Devesh Raima, both children of former Rajasthan Public Service Commission member Ramuram Raika.

The other three trainees include Manju Devi, Avinash Palsania and Vijendra Kumar, the statement said.

All five trainees were taken into the custody of the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) and brought to the SOG office for interrogation on Saturday.

So far, three separate chargesheets have been filed against the 61 accused in the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021 case. Among the 61 accused, 33 are sub-inspectors in training, four are selected candidates who did not join the service and 24 are their associates who were also linked to the paper leak gang.

According to the statement, 65 other suspects are being sought.
