Coco Gauff continues her run to defend her US Open title today.

It was a close call, however, as the Delray Beach native lost the first set of her third-round match against Elina Svetolina on Friday. The 20-year-old tennis superstar fought back to advance to today's round of 16 against fellow American Emma Navarro, who Gauff defeated at Wimbledon in July.

Gauff is the No. 3 seed at the US Open, while Navarro is No. 13. Gauff has been in a slump of form recently, having reached three Grand Slam semifinals in a row. She was knocked out in the round of 16 at Wimbledon and has not advanced since. Gauff lost in the third round of the women's singles tournament at the 2024 Olympics and most recently lost her first match at the Cincinnati Open.
