Mother charged with murder of Swansea child

Authorities have charged Karolina Zurawska, 41, with the murder of six-year-old Alexander Zurawski, who died in the Gendros area of ​​Swansea on Thursday. She is also accused of attempted murder of a 67-year-old man on the same day. Zurawska is due to appear at Swansea Magistrates Court on Monday.

Emergency services responded to an emergency call in Cwm Du Close at 8.30pm on Thursday. Police confirmed the child and woman lived together and said they were not seeking any other suspects in connection with the death.

Alexander's family paid tribute to him, describing him as a very nice child who enjoyed playing with his sister and his dog Daisy. They noted his intelligence, maturity and helpfulness, especially in cooking and cleaning. Alexander spoke both English and Polish and often corrected his parents' English.

Chief Superintendent Chris Truscott, of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, acknowledged the incident was very distressing and thanked the public for their support and patience. A police presence will remain in the area to offer advice and support. He expressed his condolences to Alexander's family and friends.
