Former Samajwadi leader Nawab Singh Yadav's DNA matches that of a minor victim in Kannauj rape case

The DNA sample of former Samajwadi Party leader Nawab Singh Yadav, who was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girlmatches the sample collected from the survivor in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Nawab Singh Yadav, a former aide of Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav, was arrested on August 12 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days on charges of raping the minor.

Just hours before his arrest, the survivor called police and said she had been stripped and an attempted assault had been made on her.

Police rushed to the scene, rescued the minor and arrested Nawab Singh Yadav, whom they found in an “indecent” condition.

During questioning, the survivor told police that her paternal aunt had brought her to her home in search of a job.

However, Nawab Singh Yadav denied the allegations and claimed that it was a “capitalist conspiracy”.
