Singer Danielle Moore, frontwoman of the electronic band Crazy P, died at the age of 52 under “sudden and tragic circumstances,” the group confirmed.

Although her bandmates did not disclose the cause of death, they said they were “devastated” and would now “need time to process that this happened.”

They shared a black and white photo of the star on social media and wrote: “We are devastated to announce the incredible and shocking news that our beautiful Danielle Moore has passed away under sudden and tragic circumstances.”

“This happened on Friday afternoon, August 30th. We ourselves cannot believe the news and we know you all will feel the same.

“She gave us so much and we love her so much. Our hearts are broken.

“We need time to process that this happened. Danielle lived a life of love, compassion, community and music. She lived the greatest life.

“We will miss her with all our hearts X.”

Fans of her work were quick to pay tribute to her, with Irish singer-songwriter Roisin Murphy calling her “brilliant” and “one of the most beautiful souls.”

Murphy expressed her admiration for Moore in an Instagram post: “One of the best in music, an amazing person and an amazing singer, artist and songwriter. I know there will be a great sense of loss and sadness in our community.”

“She touched everyone she met with light and love. I extend my sincere condolences to the friends and family closest to her.”

DJ Lea Lisa wrote: “She was a true inspiration, an outstanding DJ and a great singer. I am shocked and the world of electronic music has lost a great artist. Love and support, we will miss you…”

Fashion lecturer Avarni wrote: “I am so, so, so sorry guys. Danielle was a bundle of light and love… a force to be reckoned with and one of the most beautiful people I have ever known.”

“Such a huge, tremendous loss. Sending my love to you both and my thoughts are with her family.”

The House Gospel Choir wrote: “This is such shocking and sad news. The whole team is heartbroken. Rest in peace Danielle.”

Electronic artist Tom Middleton paid tribute to her, commenting: “A heartbreaking message. Sending my deepest condolences and love to everyone. Dani was a beacon of light and joy on and off stage with an angelic voice and infectious energy. And as many have said, kind, funny and so, so talented.”

Crazy P was formed in 1995 by Nottingham University graduates Chris Todd and Jim Baron; Moore joined in 2002 along with bassist Tim Davies and drummer Mav Kendricks.

The electronic band released eight studio albums and also integrated soul and house music into their work.

They released a new single in June, Any Signs Of Love.

The band has continued to tour the world actively. Their official Facebook page lists performances this summer in Mexico, Croatia, Spain and Portugal, as well as Glastonbury and other appearances across the UK.

Crazy P was scheduled to perform at the Forwards Festival in Bristol at the weekend and had to cancel their Sunday slot due to the tragic news of Moore's death.
