As Variety reports, the mystery series canceled after one season – despite convincing reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, the series has a rating of 92%. The series was also well received by both viewers and was able to stay in the international Netflix charts for three weeks.

These series are still coming to Netflix this year:

“Dead Boy Detectives” takes place in the “Sandman” universe

“Dead Boy Detectives” is about the two teenagers Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayd Revri), who work together to uncover supernatural crimes. The twist: the two boys are actually ghosts who stayed on earth to help people. The Netflix series comes from Steve Yockey, who already has plenty of experience in fighting the supernatural, as he was responsible for the numerous episodes of “Supernatural”, all of which you could stream on Prime Video.

“Dead Boy Detective” was originally planned as a series for the US streaming service Max of the broadcaster HBO. The project, which is based on DC characters by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, probably no longer fits in with the new direction of DC under the direction of “The Suicide Squad” director James Gunn and his colleague Peter Safran. Therefore, “Dead Boy Detective” was sold to Netflix and is officially part of the “Sandman” universe. At least a second season of “The Sandman” has already been confirmed and is expected to be released in 2025.
