15-year-old suspect arrested after shooting near Ohio high school that left one teenager dead and four injured

EUCLID, Ohio (AP) — A 15-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left another teenager dead and four others injured about an hour after a football game near an Ohio high school campus, authorities said.

Police in the Cleveland suburb of Euclid said Sunday that investigators had identified the only suspect as the 15-year-old boy. He was arrested at a home in Euclid around 8 p.m. Saturday and taken to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.

Police also identified the teenager killed in the shooting around 10:15 p.m. Friday near the Euclid High School campus as 17-year-old Sincere Rowdy of Euclid. Four other teens, believed to be 16 or 17 years old, were injured and taken to hospitals. Police said their names would not be released.

“We ask that you keep in your thoughts and prayers all the families and friends who are forever affected by this terrible tragedy,” police said in a statement.

The Euclid City School District said on a social media page that the victims included some Euclid students and some teenagers from other local schools. The post said the deceased student was not enrolled in one of the city's schools, but “we mourn the loss of a young life and extend our deepest condolences to the family and community.”

Authorities said counselors will be available at every school starting Tuesday.
