J'khand CID arrests Tamil Nadu man for cyber fraud – ThePrint – PTIFeed

Ranchi, Sept 2 (PTI) – The Jharkhand CID has arrested a man from Tamil Nadu who was allegedly involved in an online investment scam, an official said on Monday.

The arrest came after a resident of Ranchi filed a complaint about a fraud case worth Rs 80 lakh on April 16.

The accused was arrested from Thiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu on Saturday. He was taken to Ranchi on remand and sent to jail on Monday, an official said.

“He worked with his other accomplices and opened bank accounts in the name of front companies…,” the CID said in a statement.

The victim was lured with an investment opportunity via a social media group, it was said.

“He fell victim to the scam and lost a staggering sum of Rs 80 lakh,” the statement said. PTI SAN RBT
