Tyson Fury can beat Oleksandr Usyk “three times in one night” with a “very simple” game plan, claims Billy Joe Saunders

Billy Joe Saunders believes Tyson Fury will knock out Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch on December 21.

The Gypsy King missed the chance to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999 when he lost his historic first meeting with the Ukrainian in May.

Usyk knocked out Fury in the ninth round en route to a victory that made him the first undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion.

Saunders, a former two-weight world champion and long-time friend of Fury, believes the Englishman will make it look easy if he uses the right strategy in the rematch.

“I don’t think there’s anyone out there who can beat Usyk,” he told talkSPORT Fight Night.

“Tyson Fury can beat Usyk three times in one night with a simple game plan.

“It's very, very simple to beat him. You have to use your size. You have to use your physical advantages. You have to use every attribute you have to the fullest on this man.

Saunders says Fury's first career loss was due to a combination of things.

The 35-year-old believes his pal became careless after outboxing Usyk early, but suggested problems in training camp also contributed to his split decision loss.

Luckily, Saunders will be in the gym helping Fury prepare for the second round.

He added: “The first five rounds were like sparring for him.

“In fact, I saw him spar harder in the first five rounds than in this fight.

“When he gets his way in the beginning, he tends to shut down. When he's knocked out on the ground and people don't believe he can get up and he gets up, that's when he shifts into a higher gear.

“You have to give him credit. I know there's a lot of speculation about the ninth round, but he didn't go down and kept fighting.

“I don’t want to excuse him, but I know what happened in the camp and what didn’t.

Carl Froch claims Tyson Fury will retire from boxing if he loses his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk

“I know that there was a lot missing in the sparring and other little things that need to be made up for this time.

“He asked me to leave [for] I attended the training camp with him and am therefore happy to say that I will be travelling with him.”

Saunders believes that with the right preparation and game plan, Fury can beat Usyk comfortably in their next clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

“I think Tyson will win the next fight,” he concluded.

“And I believe he will win by knockout as well.”

Even if Fury were to emerge victorious from the rematch, he would still not be the undisputed champion.

Due to an overdue IBF commitment, Usyk had to vacate one of his four belts.

Instead, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will fight for the IBF heavyweight world title on September 21. The Ukrainian continues to hold all WBA, WBC and WBO titles.
