Harry Redknapp looks for the “best worst team” in Ammanford

The famous football manager, together with some of the greatest talents, will use his expertise to lead a struggling team through an unforgettable season full of elite training and priceless experiences.

Specsavers and Harry Redknapp have once again joined forces and started searching for a grassroots team in Ammanford that is in desperate need of help.

This community-based optical and audiology provider is offering a grassroots club a unique chance to transform themselves into Specsavers' 'Best Worst Team', with hands-on training from Mr Redknapp and unforgettable experiences normally reserved for elite clubs.

In his previous stint, Redknapp rescued Cwm Albion from the depths of despair, a team that had suffered three years of consecutive defeats and had a shocking goal difference of -191.

In one of the world's greatest comebacks in grassroots football, the team under his leadership managed to score 50 goals and record seven wins, leaving the title of the next “Best/Worst Team” open.

Mr Redknapp is optimistic about the new season and said: “I am delighted to be working with Specsavers again.”

“If you judge by the great season we had with the boys from Cwm Albion, it will be a lot of fun.

“I was overwhelmed by the courage, determination and fighting spirit of the best and worst team of last season and can't wait to meet the team that has what it takes to be the worst this season.”

“I have some great surprises in store, so let’s see who’s interested!”

Specsavers offers Britain's biggest underdogs, coached by famous sportspeople, a season to remember.

The winning team would have the chance to have a great experience celebrating their success, improving their performance and restoring their wounded pride.

Lisa Hale, Head of Consumer PR, Social & Brand Activation, added her sentiments on the initiative: 'Should've gone to Specsavers' has become part of our British culture and for decades we have celebrated those human moments when our sight and hearing fail us every now and then.

“Grassroots football is full of human moments – whether it's a questionable decision on the field or a missed goal. That's why we're very proud to invest again in this underfunded cultural sector.”
