Man goes on a date and ends up beaten up in the Landwehr Canal

Berlin – A 57-year-old is in Berlin-Charlottenburg He fell into the trap of a brutal gang that beat him, robbed him and finally threw him into the Landwehr Canal.

The perfidious scheme of the four arrested suspects aged between 18 and 20: The quartet lured homosexual men via a dating platform in order to rob them at the meeting.

This was also the case with the 57-year-old who appeared at the Jungfernheide subway station on the night of August 29. According to the police, he first met a 19-year-old there, who led him to a dark path along the Landwehrkanal.

Unfortunately for the man, the 19-year-old's accomplices were already waiting there. The brutal gang brought their victim to the ground, beat him, kicked him and strangled him.

The robbers then threw the 57-year-old into the water, from which he was only able to save himself with his last bit of strength. The attacker lost his wallet, his cell phone and his Apple Watch during the robbery. The four suspected perpetrators were arrested.

Following a request from the public prosecutor, arrest warrants were issued against the quartet for gang-related robbery in conjunction with grievous bodily harm. Whether the young men are responsible for further crimes of this kind is the subject of ongoing investigations.
