“Rampage” about the fumigation of Jon Jones’ alleged spy in his camp

Quinton Jackson recently recounted how he cleverly unmasked a spy supposedly sent by Jon Jones to his fight camp by faking an injury to track him down.

Jackson faced Jones for the light heavyweight title at UFC 135 in September 2011, but his efforts were unsuccessful as he was knocked out in the fourth round. Despite being significantly outgunned in the fight, “Rampage” later criticized Jones for his fighting style and his habit of sticking out his fingers during exchanges, a habit that inadvertently caused eye poke to some of his opponents.

However, in the lead-up to their fight, Jackson riled up the MMA world by claiming that “Bones” had planted a spy in his camp to gather information on him. To support his suspicions, Jackson made up a story and leaked that he had a hand injury…

Jackson on Jones, who allegedly planted a spy: “It was someone who worked for MusclePharm”

During a recent episode of his JAXXON PodcastRampage revealed that Jones was allegedly in contact with someone from his supplement sponsor MusclePharm to spy on his fight camp. The former UFC light heavyweight champion recounted how he began to suspect his every move was being monitored and hatched a plan.

He faked an injury and only shared the news with his team, Wolfslair, but somehow the information leaked out to the public.

“He had a spy in my camp; it was someone who worked for MusclePharm and he was OK with it,” Jackson said. “He would come there and watch me train and stuff, and I don't know — I don't remember how I found out someone was watching me. Maybe some shit he said online, so I faked the injury and didn't tell anyone. I told my close team, 'I think Jon Jones has a spy in my camp,' so I faked the injury and didn't say anything, and then it got in the press.”

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports in August 2011, Jackson revealed that just hours after placing the hoax, his manager received a call from then-UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, who was desperate to find out what had happened.

As Jackson expected, the response was swift and telling: Silva mentioned that Jones' manager Malki Kawa had been in touch. Although Jackson never provided concrete evidence for his claims, “Bones” once jokingly admitted to planting a spy in his opponent's camp.
