Is it possible that there is more to Keenan Allen’s “stud problem”?

A day after Matt Eberflus declared that the Bears are fully healthy for the opener, there are concerns.

The most important is Keenan Allen.

The veteran wide receiver did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday after the Bears returned from two days off.

GM Ryan Poles addressed this after practice on Wednesday.

“No, no, he had a problem with the cleats last week and some slight discomfort in his foot, but he should be fine,” Poles said.

Discomfort is a pretty broad term, but two days off after not training on Monday or Tuesday seems like a cause for concern. A problem with the cleats is also pretty vague.

In addition to Allen, Montez Sweat and Zacch Pickens were also on the sidelines on Thursday. Pickens was injured before the game against the Chiefs and has not played since.

Sweat could have simply gotten a veterans day off, but there's no way to know because Bears coach Matt Eberflus met with the media on Wednesday but not Thursday. At the start of training camp, Sweat missed nearly a week of practice with an unspecified injury.

The Bears have not had to disclose the severity of injuries throughout training camp, although coach Matt Eberflus mentioned that players could be out week-to-week or day-to-day due to an unspecified injury. Brad Biggs of the Tribune reported that Pickens has a groin injury.

The day when everything becomes clear is fast approaching.

On Wednesday, the league will require the Bears' first actual injury report. That's when everyone will know the nature of the team's injuries and have clarity on the severity in terms of whether players are limited or absent from practice.

Safety Kevin Byard was also questionable due to injury, but Eberflus said Wednesday that Byard would be ready to play in Week 1.

When asked if there was anyone who might be concerned, Eberflus said: “It doesn't look like that at the moment, but we'll see.”
