Biker hit by Audi after accident on A-road in Essex

Shocking footage of the incident was shared on social media and appears to show the Audi attempting to leave the scene of the accident on the A127 while biker Frank Pettigrew tries to persuade it to stay.

According to Frank, of Langdon Hills, the incident began when the Audi driver was involved in an accident with two motorcycles as they headed toward the Progress Road intersection.

Frank claims that the Audi driver then tried to leave the scene of the accident after threatening him, even though Frank was standing in the road and blocking the departing car.

Essex Police confirmed that an investigation has been launched into a “minor collision and minor disturbance” and is currently reviewing all footage of the incident.

Frank, who plans to give up motorcycling after the incident, said: “He looked at us as we drove through and almost said he didn't want to drive in front of him, so he pushed us.”

“He then tried to drive down the road but was forced to stop by traffic and eventually pulled over while we kept asking him for his personal details.

“He got out, became aggressive, intimidated and threatened me.

“The driver then got back into his car and tried to drive off. He drove directly towards me.”

Frank hadn't been on his bike for two years and this was the first time he was back on his beloved bike.

He added: “This is the final nail in the coffin for me. There is no respect left on the streets.”

“I don't want to ride anymore. That finally put me off and I put my bike up for sale online.”

Footage of the incident is currently being reviewed by Essex Police.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “On Sunday 1 September, officers were called to the A127 between Rayleigh Weir and Progress Road at around 11.15am following reports of a minor collision and disturbance.

“The drivers of a BMW and two motorcycles were involved in the incident.

“Officers are reviewing footage of the incident to determine if any criminal activity took place.”
