Aryan Mishra's father raises questions about fatal Faridabad shooting

The father of teenager Aryan Mishra, who was allegedly shot dead by cow activists during a chase in Faridabad, is full of questions about the death, including why none of the other occupants of the vehicle were injured in the attack. Aryan Mishra, 19, was shot dead on a highway around midnight on August 23. Five people – Saurabh, Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna and Adesh – who allegedly chased him and opened fire were arrested on August 28.

Although he did not make an explicit allegation, Siyanand Mishra said his landlord's family, who were in the car with his son that night, may have more to say about the matter.

“I am happy with the arrest of the five men because there is nothing left for me in Faridabad. I want to return to my home. But there are many questions that only my landlord's family can answer. My son was taken to Palwal in a car by Sujata Gulati and his sons Harshit and Shanky Gulati.

“Shanky was involved in an attempted murder and may have gotten into an argument with someone,” he said.

Mishra also asked whether his son was actually shot by cow protectors and who gave them the right to do so.

“Anil Kaushik told the police that my son was killed because they thought he was a cattle smuggler. And if he is right, then who gave the cattle guards the right to shoot at anyone? My son will not come back, but this case needs to be seriously investigated,” he said. Meanwhile, Aryan's brother has created the Whatsapp group 'Nyay' to demand justice for the murder. The group, which was created on Tuesday night, has been joined by more than 1,000 people. According to police sources, during interrogation, the accused claimed that they had received information on the night of August 23 that some suspected cattle smugglers were doing reconnaissance work in the city using two SUVs.

They mistook Aryan and his friends Shanky and Harshit for cattle smugglers and followed their vehicle for about 30 kilometers near the Gadhpuri toll plaza on the Delhi-Agra national highway, police sources said.

When they asked the boy and his friends to stop their car, the driver started speeding, after which they opened fire and Mishra was killed on the spot near Gadhpuri toll plaza in Palwal.

Police arrested five men on August 28 and remanded them in custody for two days, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Aman Yadav said in a statement on Tuesday.

Hemendra Kumar Meena, DCP Crime, said, “Many aspects of this case are still unclear. The facts that came to light during the questioning of the accused are being verified. The case is being thoroughly investigated and it would be premature to say anything now. The police will announce the case soon.”
